Microme
Graduation project, Design Academy Eindhoven. [2017]. MicroME is an entertaining and educational meal experience, that uses narrative to bring a massive unseen world of living working beings inside our bodies to the front of our imaginations. The meal helps us to digest scientific discovery and what it means to us as individuals; offering a view of ourselves as carefully balanced ecosystems. We engage with our with our microbes and reveal their importance in our daily lives.
Hireable for formal and informal events and training days it serves as a platform to bring together professionals and the general public to reflect on the way microbes live and work through the playful connection of food and Social ex- change. The event aims to spark a more healthy attitude towards our microbes in the context of our current overuse of antibiotics, sanitation, processed foods and Caesarean births. Such factors have contributed to today’s era of ‘missing microbes’. We see a new rise in conditions such as allergies, diabetes, and immune deficiencies. We shape our micro-ecosystems and they shape and shape us in turn.
